British Balloon Bash – Code Of Conduct

We are committed to providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all. This code of conduct outlines our expectations for participant behaviour as well as the consequences for unacceptable behaviour.

So we invite all sponsors, volunteers, speakers, attendees, media, exhibitors, and other participants to help us make British Balloon Bash a safe and positive experience for everyone.

We expect all event participants to abide by this code of conduct at all conference venues and conference-related social events.

All decisions about appropriate or inappropriate behaviour are at the sole discretion of the British Balloon Bash Team.

 

1. EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR

1.1 Be considerate and respectful.

1.2 Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behaviour and speech.

1.3 Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow attendees. Alert conference organisers if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in distress.

 

2. UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR

2.1 Unacceptable behaviour includes: intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory or demeaning conduct by any attendees of British Balloon Bash and related events like the after hours socialising parties.

2.2 Harassment includes: offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, disability; deliberate intimidation, stalking or following; harassing photography or recording; sustained disruption of talks or other events; inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

2.3 Physical, written, verbal or other abuse, intimidation, threats, annoyance, harassment, stalking, pushing, shoving or use of any physical force whatsoever against any person, which in any way creates a disturbance that is disruptive or dangerous, or creates anxiety in a person.

2.4 Please drink alcohol responsibly.

2.5 Possession or use of any illegal substance. British Balloon Bash Team does not condone the use or abuse of illegal substances anywhere in the venue.

2.6 Smoking is not permitted in any areas other than those outside areas designated by the The Imperial Hotel.

2.7 Assembling for the purpose of, or resulting in, disturbing the peace, or committing any unlawful act or engaging in any offensive behaviour.

2.8 Failure to obey any rules or regulations of the The Imperial Hotel.

 

3. CONSEQUENCES OF UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR

3.1 Unacceptable behaviour will not be tolerated.

3.2 Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behaviour is expected to comply immediately.

3.3 If a participant engages in unacceptable behaviour, the British Balloon Bash Team may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including expulsion from the bash without warning or refund.

 

4. WHAT TO DO IF YOU WITNESS OR ARE A VICTIM OF UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR

4.1 If you are subjected to unacceptable behaviour, notice that someone else is being subjected to unacceptable behaviour, or have any other concerns during the event, please notify a member of the British Balloon Bash Team as soon as possible. All reports will remain completely confidential.

4.2 The British Balloon Bash Team will be available to help participants contact local law enforcement or to otherwise assist those experiencing unacceptable behaviour to feel safe for the duration of the bash. 5. CHANGES TO CODE OF CONDUCT

5.1 We reserve the right to modify or update this Code of Conduct at any time without prior notice.

5.2 Any changes to these Code of Conduct will be effective immediately upon posting on the bash website.
